Another teaser for something BIG!

Posted by ,

A cryptic image teasing the imminent announcement of an enormous new set was published on LEGO's Twitter feed last week and another has arrived today. This one compares the instruction manual for the upcoming set with that belonging to 10257 Carousel, stating that the spiral bound manual is precisely 2.56 times bigger than the 196-page booklet for the Creator Expert set.

That would yield a total count of 502 pages, far surpassing even the 316-page manual for 2007's 10179 Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon!

It seems very likely that a third teaser image will be published next Tuesday given the emerging pattern so keep an eye on Brickset for further coverage.

Another comparison to a Creator set.

Are we all getting the Falcon link wrong?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I suspect it's something from the Creator line as none of the two sets that it has been compared with so far arelicensed sets, could be a way to divert opinion from the usual suspect. It could be: an AT-AT or a new Giant Modular building (hospital, police station, museum, science department, etc).

Gravatar
By in United States,

yuffie - I really think they are comparing size . . . and the two sets mentioned so far are some of the biggest sets that have recently been released. I really can't see this being anything but a new UCS Falcon.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

^^^Hope so! ;) OMG this exciting!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

TBH I think the Creator comparisons are purely because Creator Expert is known for size, thus allowing TLG to emphasise the scale of the Falcon. They could use Star Wars sets, but only about 10 UCS sets actually top 2000 pieces.
There also the possibility that the Carousel and Bus were chosen not because they are Creator, but because they were recent - the only big SW set this year was the Snowspeeder, so maybe they're just using any D2Cs to keep their options open.

Someone replied to the Tweet asking something about the new Death Star and Technic Porsche, and TLG replied saying they hadn't done those comparisons... yet.

So we may still see comparisons from other themes.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I also noticed that two Creator Expert sets have been shown for comparison so far but I think they are simply using the most recently released direct-to-consumer sets: 10258 London Bus and 10257 Carousel. Perhaps next week's teaser will cite 21137 The Mountain Cave for comparison, assuming the format remains the same.

Having said that, we are still expecting to see a Creator Expert Winter Village set later this year so it is a possibility.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^Maybe and I can see that a Star Wars comparison would be too obvious a giveaway but if the next comparison is to a Creator set I really will begin to wonder.

I hope I'm wrong as I want a new Falcon set!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think they're using the most recent Creator sets purely as a means of advertisement, and to attract not just Star Wars fans.
"Whilst you're speculating about what future set is in the box, take a look at this other cool expensive thing that you can BUY RIGHT NOW!!"

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Reminds me of the Original Death Star instructions (sorry original Death star with figures set) not the first partially blown up one. I'm not sure what Mark 2.0 of those instructions looked like. I must confess part of me hopes it isn't the falcon as I'm going to have to decide if we take the kids on Holiday or daddy gets a massive toy, he has no where to put. They won't understand how its been 10 years and I nearly bought one in 2007 etc........

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Regardless of if it's the UCS Falcon everyone seems to think I'm just amazed that Lego are contemplating a £700 set. That's almost my months rent (for a 1 bed flat). There's no way I could justify spending that on a toy. Lego need to stop with the obscenely huge sets that only a handful can buy and give us all some nice sets to own.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

I think it's a new modular! Because it's the tenth anniversary of the subtheme and maybe it's including two things: the big 10255 set and maybe a new modular numbered 10256!

Gravatar
By in France,

Could it feasibly be a 3 in 1 creator SW set where you get the MF as the main model but instructions to build two other models...? I doubt it but it would be cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Enough with the teaser's!! Just show me the dang set already!

Yes, I know i'm impatient.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am still holding out hope for UCS Barad Dur...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't think the fact that they're showing Creator sets has much to do with what it is. Besides the Snowspeeder there haven't been any huge Star Wars sets released this year, and teasing with Star Wars sets would be a dead giveaway.

I have to say, I'm really liking how they're teasing this so far. Not showing shots of the set or anything like that, just teasing enough to get us hyped, but still keeping us guessing. Watch the next hint be something like "(insert set here) had the most grey pieces before, but this set has even more! 3.74x more, to be precise!" :P

Edit: I also can't wait for someone to brighten up the image to see which instruction booklet is underneath the paper. ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A UCS Falcon with some interior detail would justify the even bigger manual, since the original was just structural inside...

It would also fit the pattern of annoying the hell out of collectors by pushing price points up and up.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I maybe wrong but as far as I know the only sets that have ever had spiral bound instructions are Star Wars sets, namely 10030, 10143, 10179, 10188 and 75159. All other sets either having multiple manuals or perfect bound manuals. If I am wrong with this I'll happily stand corrected!!!
The only thing that makes me think it might not be a simple rerelease of 10179 is the build up and suspense unless if it's an all new model and not just a simple rerelease or mildly updated rerelease.
10255 was the tenth anniversary modular set so can't see it being another modular. It could still be a giant technic set for the 40th anniversary.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A $600-$800 Star Wars set would have a limited market yes. But to me a $600-$800 creator set would be even more limited. I have most of the modulars but 10255 is pushing it with a $280 price tag.
No way I'd ever spend $600-$800 on a random building. We've all seen the photoshopped teaser from last week. There is no way its anything but the Falcon.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Can't help but think it's going to be starkiller base or something unexpected, hoping for the falcon though ??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Isn't it obvious by first the box and now the instructions that its a giant brick built LEGO logo.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@historynut: There are some pretty dang good sets across all price ranges, e.g. the bounty hunter battle pack. They've also only released one set over $500 (besides this one), so it sounds to me like they're doing a good job releasing nice sets that everyone can get.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^^^ I feel like the chances of it being something like Starkiller Base are pretty slim. Like @Derp Riot said, the market for a $800 LEGO set is going to be slim, and by making it Star Wars they're increasing the market. Things like the Falcon, the Death Star, or something like Cloud City, are all things that could attract Star Wars fans that aren't LEGO fans as they'd be excellent and iconic display pieces for anyone.

Assuming it's Star Wars, which is likely, it's definitely going to be one of the most iconic ships or scenes from the franchise.

Gravatar
By in France,

next teaser will be the number of bags

Gravatar
By in United States,

Good grief, LEGO, stop toying with my emotions. ;)

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Oh come on LEGO! I want to know what it is..

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

I starts to imagine some big and well known buildings which haven't been made by Lego yet. Something that big must be something that is nice to display prominently. Wow this teaser is making the guessing game more difficult.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Who's going to Photoshop to let us see what's inside the packaging? :P

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Posted this in Eurobricks so might as well repeat it here... I wonder if the final teaser could be "Something faster is coming. Point 5 past light speed faster."

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I hope it's not the Millennium Falcon! I want something new or at least something that hasn't been done like 15 times already!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Speed champions d2c monza? Spa? Silverstone? The 'ring?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Just going to put this out there as I have no idea but is there any relevance to the numbers 2.56 and 4.86?? Just wondering if these are just the random numbers generated by the sets they've chosen to compare the sets to or if there's any connection to the set

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is it possible that we might see a Starkiller Base set, considering how much bigger it is than the Death Star??

Just a thought since the original UCS Falcon was an amazing design. ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Possibly Roller Coaster, or a 2-in-1 box set with two new rides for Fair Theme.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

The rumored Taj Mahal re-release ?

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is most likely the Falcon. But if you relate the 2 creator sets in the teasers so far it could be the London Eye?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Maybe its a Creator Expert Nissan GT-R ;D

That would be a first for Lego to get into the Japanese market

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^that would be AWESOME! Maybe r32-r35?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Galidor is BACK!!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I think it will be the lego house, it is opening soon!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hype!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

First the link with London with the bus and now a fairground attraction? This could be huge version of the London Eye Ferris wheel.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If it's a falcon then I wanna buy 5 then wait 20 year then sell them!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it'll be more like 10 years tho!

Gravatar
By in Ecuador,

Perhaps a Modular Building Shopping Mall?

Place your bets!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Between waiting for this reveal and waiting for the Fighter Pack 2 reveal for Injustice 2... one of these needs to be revealed quick!!! I am liking the possibility of another large modular building or group of buildings, however it's pretty much universally agreed that this is the Falcon.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

@MrBrickALot: It's logic. You're brilliant!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Have been thinking of what type of big sets is released around this part of the year.
it could be some London landmark building. We got a big Modular this year.

Could be the Christmas set? It is creator
Jubele Technic set
This year Disney Castle type buildding
a London landmark buiding. We got the bus but thinking it is a part of the cars line.
Or as all presume it is a Star wars themed set. Mostly the Falcon.

I also hope for the falcon too but within a reasonble price. A $800 is a no buy for me. Even the new death star is to pricy.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Like so many others, I'm of course convinced we will get a new UCS MF, that would not really be any big surprise.
Big question is how re-worked it is compaired with the 2007-version.

But... think about how surprised we all would be if it is a 7512 pieces model of Saint Basil's Cathedral!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

UCS Jar Jar Binks

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Hey! I also recently did an "X-Ray" on the box and there are clearly 2 minifigures right next to the LEGO logo: http://i.imgur.com/dbCREuE.png

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

If you try to save the picture file name is: The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy

Gravatar
By in United States,

It has to be the Falcon. The creator sets are just a little misdirection - they can't make it too obvious. I don't think Lego fans in general would pay that much money for a creator set or any other product line besides Star Wars. This will make my 5th mini-figure scale Falcon if I remember correctly.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dang... It's probably a Star Wars set, whether it's the long awaited Falcon, an AT-AT, Cloud City, you name it, I don't know... but it worries me, really. As much as I would love to buy a Death Star, that's just a no-go. Spending $500 dollars on a collectable, a LEGO SET, is just too hard a pill to swallow. And making a 600, 700, 800 dollar set, with that kind of money you could buy a full VR setup, or an X-Box AND a PS4. Oh well, whatever it is, I'm sure I'll want it, but I'm definitely never getting it : /

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have my fingers crossed for a Fabuland relaunch/rerelease

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

@Freaky: And there are more (two) minifigures next to them (right)!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The original tweet says 194 pages, not 196 pages, which means that the instruction manual for the new set will have 497 pages instead of 502 pages.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

8000 piece, real life BB8.

Modular cloud city would be good though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If it is a massive London Eye then the next reveal should say it is 5.45 times as repetitive a build as the previous most repetitive set (Taj Mahal? Tower Bridge?). Building 32 identical pods!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The picture is called "The fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy." There is way too much evidence for a MF. The fact that they've compared it to two creator sets doesn't really mean anything.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Next week Lego will tease with how many times more expensive this set will be compared to another set :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

@lego4elio: Keep in mind that's just what CapnRex101 decided to name the file. Could have no bearing whatsoever on what the set actually is.... (though I'm certainly keeping my fingers crossed for a Millennium Falcon!)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@historynut I don't know if you're into those sets, but everything from the LEGO Ninjago Movie is extremely good and ranges from $10 to $160, plus Ninjago City which is $300... which, granted, is still much cheaper than whatever this will be

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm torn between hoping it IS the Falcon, since I have no interest in Star Wars sets and therefore would not feel crushed at not being able to afford it, and hoping it ISN'T the Falcon, since I'd much rather have some sort of amazingly awesome Creator Expert building, or really... anything else. Essentially no way my spouse is agreeing to a $600-800 LEGO set though, so probably irrelevant to me either way...

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I'm already looking forward to next week's announcement:
"The LEGO Disney Castle costs a freakin' 350 bucks, but something MORE EXPENSIVE is coming ... 2.29 times more expensive!"

Edit: Dang, @Roebuck beat me to it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I sure hope it is the MF, because if this is a huge holiday set I am hosed. There are already too many sets I personally want, and I can't add another to my list.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just did the math, 10179 added about 16 pieces a page, meaning theoretically this model could have about 8016 pieces, if it added parts at a similar rate per page. The largest sets released have an average of about 7.0c per piece, meaning this set would cost around $560. Taking into account any minifigures, and the fact that the price would be rounded to the nearest 100, this COULD...

Have 8016 pieces and cost around $600.
I don't know about you, but those numbers sound pretty realistic.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Since the teasers are Creator sets, it must be the new Creator train that we have been waiting for. Perhaps an entire California Zephyr or Orient Express. One can dream, right?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just realized... The database says that there's going to be an Elves set with limited retail.

8000+ piece Elves set confirmed!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hi all I'm new to the forum. Big Lego fan but I only buy ones I really like (if that makes sense). No doubt this is an enormously expensive MF, but why? Why engineer the same model over and over again? Is it just because it's Star Wars so Lego can rinse the older fans who now have the money to burn? What's so special about it? These are genuine questions btw I'm not trying to antagonise!

Gravatar
By in United States,

First of all, welcome!

Believe it or not, but over the course of 18 years there's only been 5 minifig-scale Falcons. It feels like there's been more, but surprisingly there haven't. Often times they'll remake sets because not everybody was around or had the money for a version released 5, 7, 10 years ago. 10179 (UCS MF) was released 9 years ago, and a lot of people either weren't LEGO fans then, or maybe didn't have the money then. By releasing a new one they give newer fans to enjoy stuff they might have missed out on.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Thanks @Coson, and I guess it gives people a chance to get it and not have to spend £1500+ on a hoarded one on eBay!

Excited for the big reveal, but I reckon they'll all get snapped up by 'investors' fairly sharpish. It's probably the size of my lounge.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You do all realize that they're deliberately not comparing it to Star Wars sets, as, if it is indeed the Millennium Falcon, it would be dead giveaway.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

How about what's going to be the next comparison teaser?

The sticker sheet for Ninjago City alongside the (much bigger) sticker sheet for the UCS Falcon?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I know people are saying they don't think it's the Falcon, and of course until it's confirmed it could be anything. But very reliable sources over several forums have stated that the set will be;

7000+ pieces
Special packaging (square box different from standard boxes and spiral bound instructions confirmed to support this)
Released 1st October

This alongside 40 year anniversary of Star Wars, 10 years since 10179 and the photoshopped box teaser from last week showing the hunk of junk! Now come on, it can't be anything but the Falcon. Can it???

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Bucket Wheel Excavator's instructions had 552 pages. I am honestly hoping for a really big Technic set for the 40th anniversary.

Gravatar
By in France,

What if they release a Yoda Statue ? (^_^)

Gravatar
By in United States,

UCS Cloud City anyone?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I got images, sadly can't post them...... ??

Gravatar
By in United States,

I find it kinda funny how people are thinking it's something other than the Falcon.

The WV set is a $80 train station so no way it's that.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I would like another imperial star destroyer

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Olivierz But even you admit that there is something that looks something like a cockpit. So what else could it be?

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Jeez, you'd almost think Brickset knows something we don't...

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's really Dash Rendar's Outrider

Gravatar
By in United States,

In the link posted by Olivierz, https://mysterybigbox.blogspot.com/, I see a dinosaur head. The "something big is approaching" could apply to a park-sized Jurassic Park set. Maybe? Probably not. But I did see the dino head. And there is a Jurassic Park movie coming in 2018.

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

I kind of having the same thought that it 'could' be an London eye, given the fact of previous reference: 1. london bus, 2. carousel, and 3. the cockpit from the x-ray image.

But having that many cockpits as repetitive building will not then require an instruction booklet of that size. So well, I dumped the idea.

Still I have a crazy idea: could it be some kind of a monument building from China, given that Lego would like to expand the market there and the current largest set is Taj Mahal from India?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm also in agreement with those who say it's not the falcon. You want to talk about misdirection? I find it hard to believe that they released this image without knowing that when you attempt to save the image it says "the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy." How hard would it have been for Lego to name the picture "lego mystery box 2017?"

One of two things- 1) that in and of itself is misdirection or 2) they just don't care if we figure it out.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^That's Brickset's file name, not LEGO's. LEGO's official filename for the image is "DGtYa4sVYAAZJAm.jpg"

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Coson: oh, ok. So they're assuming it's the falcon just based on the evidence that everyone else has dug up. The way it was worded by a few people above in this comment section was that the file name provided further evidence that it is the falcon. A bit misleading for sure.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Let's hope they do piece comparison next week.
(and not sticker sheet....could you imagine 2.5 times the stickers on Batcave or something!!!!)

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

No you're all wrong! Just heard via a Russian dark site - it's definitely a Trump sponsored White House (...with 9 hole Golf practice green)! The biggest Lego set you'll ever see - Believe me... ;)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

After Hans Burkhard Schlömer's comment on set 75182 in his BrickList (https://brickset.com/sets/list-14074), I actually thought that it was clear that it is at least a Star Wars set.

"Clones need a ride too! I did this set as a quick side-project while working on a much, much, much, much, much, much larger set which is going to be announced on September 1st 2017."

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO....why you keep teasing me? Cause you know I LOVE IT!!!! ;)

I wonder if like others have said....maybe it isn't a Millenium Falcon but a HUGE UCS Cloud City OR a Star Killer base??? MF is most likely but the other two....I would love to have!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

we all know how they are loving London at the moment so could well be a London Eye, or maybe a London Underground train set with station and tube trains under a tube station just a wish but prob be like 10,000 x bigger

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@deikoon, that's a really interesting observation, good find. To me, that's the strongest piece of evidence I've heard/seen firsthand, that supports the inference that it is a Star Wars set. Although just because he mentioned the set while commenting on one of his SW designs doesn't necessarily imply the set he's working on is SW. But it certainly leans that way, in a big way.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Although, all speculation aside, I'm with the group of LOTR'ers who wish for their pipe dream of a UCS Minas Tirith or Barad Dur to become a reality. While that's effectively out of the question, we can still dream.

I wonder how/if TLG assessed the market for this mystery set. How to they expect the sales of a $1000 CAD set to fare? I suppose they view their best kick at selling a set priced this high is through the Star Wars franchise. And they're probably not wrong on that front.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If it was a tube train and station, I'd be ecstatic.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

It's next to impossible justifying spending £700 on a toy. Granted, aftermarket prices for these type of sets seem to skyrocket, but it still doesn't feel like good value. Given the hype Lego is building up, this better be good or we will all feel let down.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Maybe its their First ever Giant Duplo Modular Building

Gravatar
By in United States,

If they want to kill two falcons, er, two birds with one stone they could release a 40th Anniversary Technic/40th Anniversary Star Wars combo set. Maybe a Technic Falcon?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Could be a coffee table book for the MF, similar to that of the Porsche GT3.

Gravatar
By in Iran,

I honestly don't find the idea of a new Millenium Falcon UCS appealing, that's what a lot of people are expecting out of this but I hope it's something different, I don't own the UCS Falcon and if that ends up being what this is I'll pass, The Force Awakens Falcon is good enough for me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

With all the hype, build up and suspense this set is getting I hope it's more than just a rerelease of 10179 with new figures.
The instructions could be much longer than 10179 simply because of numbered bags, a more simplified building process like 42056 where on many occasions you only add one piece per step and pages dedicated to the designers, interviews and photos etc.
I would like a new UCS falcon because I foolishly sold mine before the values started to skyrocket but would like a complete redesign.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If you download the image to photoshop, run it through a reverse grayscale adjustment layer with a high res colour cast composite, turn up the saturation and lux and add a pretty vignette for good measure you can vaguely make out a small piece of mandible greebling just to the left of the lego logo front image...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

At this Point, I really don't understand how people are still speculating that it's anything other than a UCS MF. And for those hoping it's Starkiller base, what on earth is going to go inside it? That incredible scene where Phasma does absolutely f*** all? I agree, an exclusive Daniel Craig as a stormtrooper minifig might be fun, but not worth building a 7,500 piece set round. The current Death Star is jam-packed with highly iconic scenes from two movies.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm calling it now.

UCS Hogwarts.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

100% agree with Brainslugged

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ @deikoon great spot on Han's' brick list. It's basically confirmation that there will definitely be a huge Star Wars set released next month (or at least revealed). Besides the fact that it doesn't mention the actual Millenium Falcon, what more confirmation would you need?

Kind of a side note, but it really grinds my gears when people are speculating on other options that The Death Star III is being referred to as 'Starkiller Base' ;) - wonder if we'll see the Death Star IV in Episode IX, the size of an entire galaxy? But on the Lego side this seems extremely unlikely in the near future because the 2016 rerelease of the Death Star is too familiar.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Could literally be anything, but a star wars set is likely based on the price. I doubt they'd risk any other theme with a price like that. Star wars is the most easy to market, and probably has the most appeal if we're being honest.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ BootheMightyHamster - hahahaha

I like the idea of a UCS Cloud City but after what they did to the Hoth set can you imagine how bad Cloud City would be?

We're going to get a giant C3PO to go with the UCS R2D2! The only big version character that would be more popular would be JAR JAR BINKS!!!!

Gravatar
By in Bosnia And Herzegovina,

I think Lepin direct dealers are lucky ones they can see future Millenium Falcon already which is going to be ready before Lego release just as they did with Ninjago City

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Another possible reason why they compared it only to Creator sets so far: The license owner of another license such as Minecraft might complain that Lego would say "look, here's something bigger than that one".

And yes, realistically i think it can't really be anything but an MF...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Any chance that what appears to be the MF cockpit is actually one cockpit of a cloud car and the round exhaust port being the front of the other cockpit which is hidden by the LEGO logo? This would be in the foreground flying above Cloud City thus and would explain some of the dimension flaws of the MF image not fitting the box. Just a thought.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I think that is a new MF.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

As it is the 40th anniversary of the Technic line and the community was not satisfied with the 42070 6x6 All Terrain Tow Truck including me aswell - I am expecting something greater. For example in last year we had 2 great Technic sets the 42055 Excavator and the 42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
I am expecting a Technic set with like 6000 pieces for like 350 EUR.

My other thought was something oldschool set like a Castle/Pirate but i ruled them out because:
We have 2 big ships this year already. The PotC Silent Mary and the one from the Ninjago Movie. Don't think they're releasing another one.
2010ish Kingdoms, 2013ish Castle and now we have these middle-aged space marines - Don't think we would see a middle-aged space fortress soon.

No offense to the Star Wars fanboys but most of that line is Copy-Paste. Facelift at every 3-4th year with some new sets. So I would not mind if it is not a remake again...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

You guys are close. It is a star wars re-release, but it's of the Darth Maul Giant Head! Haha, I so hope it's a massive troll by LEGO.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think it's literally a stack of paper they punched holes through, not the actual manual

Gravatar
By in United States,

But, with 40 years of Technic and SW and 60 years of LEGO:

Why not Technic Millennium Falcon?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Maybe it's a giant LEGO House set? They made a microscale one, why not a Minifig scale one? Lol

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

hmmm.. I think its one of these LEGOLAND models packed for consumers.. something like "do-it-yourself"..could be a new dinosaur or these irritatating yellow "minions" with one eye in the middle of the head :)

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

Answer to JRL:

why again? Why did we get 5th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean this year? Because as long as you can "squeeze" the brand, you do that.. not mentioning the shareholders of the Disney Corp who certainly want to see returns on their investments (and Disney buying out Lucasfilm Ltd with their Star Wars like three years ago for 4 bilion USD? If Im correct)..

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It's five thousand white 2 x 4 bricks and a huge roll of stickers so you can build anything you like :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think CM4 may be right, I started to have a look in Photoshop just in case but this one just seems to be reams of paper ring bound - no taunting silhouettes. Now that we have a box and instructions comparison, I'm not sure how they'll anonymise the other ones - maybe just have empty numbered bags or a blank sticker sheet? Numbered bags are certain to be on there - I think so far the numbers don't often go beyond around 14 or so, but maybe this one goes to 30 numbered bags or more, assuming we get more out of each bag than normal. Perhaps we will see a hint of inner boxes like the Death Star or Porche?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Could we have a Mil Falcon that changes into say a Star Destroyer?
I'm also surprised at the mystery around this. Considering that the minifig Highwayman was a huge disappointment for many (not me though) surely sjut showing the set would be better. After all we're not kids!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm thinking the UCS Cloud City might as well wait 3 years for the 40th anniversary of ESB.

Bring on the UCS Millennium Falcon!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Confirmed! It's a UCS Jar Jar Binks' head sculpture to go with my 10018 Darth Maul! I've been waiting for this for years! I've read the internet tea leaves and there is NO WAY it is anything else!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Judging be the way it's being hyped, I'm under the impression that it's something original from Lego, not licensed. I hope it is, because I'm getting way too excited and I know I'll be really disappointed if it's Star Wars.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

My decision to not have children is paying off... time to blow some of that disposable income. A UCS set of this magnitude (pun intended!) could only be the iconic Aluminum Falcon... sorry, couldn't help it...
Though I would love to see an AT-AT, Medical Frigate or the like...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Maybe it'll be a UCS Nürburgring, we only got one speed champions set this year!

Gravatar
By in Venezuela,

I see many things in the large, square, currently wrapped in paper, box.
I see a Falcon cockpit on the wrong angle.
I see silhouettes over the black bar, with very, very tiny letters to their right.
I see blue shadows confusing my sight, possibly a lens flare in form of an eye, of he whose sets were weird yet fine, and he now lives with MEGA.
I see a big white line slashing the solidity of a Falcon, leaving confusion in its surroundings.
I see nothing in the two other faces we can see, other than their suggestive depth.

Gravatar
By in Venezuela,

...
Oh, but what is the paper hiding? Beneath a photoshopped logo and an upside-down dream?
Oh, but what will the spiral be binding? A backstory and a process with repetition supreme?
In a Technic frame shall the build rest? Will it be of many models uniting?
How many figures? How unique the prints? How much stickers will we place without sighing?
Will a server resist its might? Will a line of hours endure?
Will the scalpers faint to its sight? Will LEPIN threaten the pure?
But just tell us WHAT, beloved Group of Companies, have you unleashed upon this dimension?
The Falcon of Millennia? The City of Clouds? Or something I can't even mention?
The Mecha of Quakes that you owe to the people, its awesome but bonkers design?
The Ship-in-a-Bottle or the Universal Defender? Did you get them all done before time?
Did you sign a new contract that got you excited so you threw all the money on its set?
Is it totally Technic, considering your flagship this year, how it left some upset?
A new Fairground attraction with motors included? A modular to pierce the heavens?
Are you still in London? Or is it in Billund? WHY DO YOU TAKE THIS UP TO ELEVEN?!

Gravatar
By in Venezuela,

...
And despite all this massive piece of rhyme,
and no matter all my invested time,
I have no real reason to worry, to complain, or to feel pain down below
because here, where I live, I know
there is too little money, and far bigger woes
than being unable to bricklink not even a single, tiny slope,
let alone feel excited for throwing my life's savings
at a big, heavy, greebly, yet beautiful chunk of clutched plastic
inside a large, square, currently wrapped in paper,
box.
...
Thank you very much.

By in United States,

I maybe wrong but as far as I know the only sets that have ever had spiral bound instructions are Star Wars sets, namely 10030, 10143, 10179, 10188 and 75159. All other sets either having multiple manuals or perfect bound manuals. If I am wrong with this I'll happily stand corrected!!!

So searched "Spiral Bound Lego Instructions"...................... didn't get very far before I found non Star Wars............... http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/45584-review-21005-fallingwater/

Gravatar
By in Australia,

My money is on another Millennium Falcon, bigger and more detailed than before.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

100% it's the UCS MF. Not bigger than the last one, but with detailed interior. Rectangular roof antenna from Ep 7.

Expect nothing else to avoid disappointment.

(Evidence: see-through wrapping from 1st photo definitely shows upside-down Lego logo and features of mandible - 2 access holes)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

My guess is Westminister Abbey or Buckingham Palace - Full Size. They seem to be on a London, UK theme lately and both would go great with the Double Decker Bus and Big Ben. Would love to see something like Notre Dame

Gravatar
By in United States,

Like someone above said, the "cockpit" is clearly a DINOSAUR head. Jurassic Park/World confirmed!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@deejdave I stand happily corrected as I said I would!!! I didn't do any searches, I just went off sets I've either got or had or have knowledge of. Cheers!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

There's simply too much evidence and insider information out there saying it's the Millennium Falcon for it to be anything else. I will be genuinely shocked if it turns out not to be.

For the sheer size and price that this set will be, I don't think anything else makes much sense.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

London eye ... Motorised, giant epic?

Or 2m high burj kalifa?

Not star wars imo .. if its licensed its more likely to be something like the hellicarrier.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@deikoon
He could mean the first order star destroyer. It looks fairly large in the pics.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Maybe it is another landmark like Mount Rushmore or it is an UCS AT-AT.

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

As to why for the two teasers Creator Expert sets were used, I think it was something like this:

They clicked brickset with this link:
https://brickset.com/sets/year-2017

And sort the page with the highest piece count. Browsed through the sets and minus the: licensed sets, technic sets, ideas sets, and guess what, this is the result:
10258: London Bus, 10257: Carousel, 10255: Assembly Square

And so with this analysis I don't see any connection with London. And I predict for the next teaser they will use 10255 as comparison, for the piece count! :)

But IF the next piece count teaser uses 75144: Snowspeeder as comparison, then the answer is pretty much clear. :) Just for fun!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Reliable sources tell me its a new Architecture set, The Great Wall of China.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Kind of tired right now...
Been up all night thinking about this new MF, and how to do...

I mean, should a buy it or Bricklink it???
Feel really torn apart here...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow. That's quite the instruction booklet. Now I'm REALLY curious to see what this set is... :D

Gravatar
By in Czech Republic,

It will be Millenium falcon, for 100%.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I hope its not SW and I am reasonably sure its not. Death Star and Hoth are 2 SW things that could be massive but both have already been done fairly recently. If it is more pieces then the Falcon then it must be something else.

I would love if it was another modular building but again, I'm pretty sure it won't be. They already released a rather large modular building this year and there are not many buildings that would be that big. But if we were to hypothetically say that this was a modular, then I would guess a train station complete with a 6 stud wide Creator train and track (like a combo of Horizon Express and that Lego Ideas Train Station modular that got 10,000 and was rejected)

I am very sure, however, that this mystery set will be a landmark set (Big Ben, Opera House etc.). The Taj Mahal re release idea is quite possible. If it is a landmark set, then I would either guess another London/UK landmark to complement London Bus (and Big Ben, Tower Bridge), although since there are a lot of London related Creator sets already, there is also a likely chance they will choose a landmark from somewhere else.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Lyonel McBaseplate-11 - I love the poem, but the context at the end you mention is sad indeed. Puts things in perspective.

I've no interest in a Millennium Falcon model, and while I'd love it to be a Creator set I'm 100% convinced that's what this will be. Loving all the alternate suggestions though. Think either HP or Fabuland are my favourite ones so far!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really hope it's something really exciting and new and not ANOTHER Falcon.
The Star Wars sets have been recycled far too many times.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I suspect it maybe a "60 years of Lego" set to coincide with the companies anniversary, the history of the mini-figure etc. It'll be a modular set-up with vignettes or display pieces for each theme, based on the 'holy grail' of each theme.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

@BRICKCHAP "I would guess a train station complete with a 6 stud wide Creator train and track". Great idea, that would be so awesome! :) *Please not yet another MF/SW...* 8o)

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Hold tight ladies and gentlemen... This is going to be the new Taj Mahal!

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a Cloud city playset with a Millennium Falcon.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Maybe the people who don't believe this will be a Falcon haven't been following this rumour as closely as the Star Wars fans.
People have seen the set, and reliable people have known about the set for ages. There was the designer video hint; the fact brickset are renaming the photo to be a clue.. etc, etc.
If it isn't a MF then it's been the biggest wind-up ever!
I'll be ordering one as soon as I can (assuming it's an upgrade from 10179)

Gravatar
By in Philippines,

My wallet is hemorrhaging............... :(

Gravatar
By in Germany,

If this isn't the MF, then the MF will be unveiled right after this as "one more thing". :)

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Can everyone else get a MF and I get a new Imperial UCS star destroyer (it is such a better looking ship) or a UCS AT-AT ;P

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have to laugh at how many people don't think this will be the UCS Falcon. What other line would Lego risk building a $600+ set for? Lego knows that they can slap the Star Wars Logo on anything and it will sell. That can't be said about most of their other lines. Anyone who thinks/wants it to be something other than the Falcon are going to be very disappointed in the next week or two.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Stop the massive instruction book madness! We 16+ people can handle more than three parts per step!!! I'm building 2015's Technic flagship truck and I swear it's like 20 steps to assemble a 6-cylinder engine block.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking at the picture again, if the carousel is about 200 pages the mystery set looks more than 3x the thickness. I won't be surprised if it is more than 502 pages. the x2.56 looks more like surface area to me.

Gravatar
By in Indonesia,

This sounds like a very interesting announcement. However, I don't even know what it's going to be. I am excited to see what this is going to be. Some people think it's going to be a Millennium Falcon, or something about as large. So I will have to see if this is going to be a Millennium Falcon or not.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm rather hoping it'll be a Star Wars something because I detest that franchise with a white hot hate, so that'll save me some serious bucks.

If it's a modular building thing I am toast.

Maybe it's a roller coaster....

Gravatar
By in Germany,

It is..... Drumroll.....Neuschwanstein! ;-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

The website on the Carousel manual is hilighting the 10th anniversary of modular buildings currently. The image is of a cat in a tree, someone who appears to be a dentist, and lots of confettie on the ground. A strange image. Perhaps New Orleans square (doesn't explain the dentist though). Anyway, could be a new, quad-plot modular, though I still think it's more likely the Falcon we all suspect it is.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The size of the box is because of the size of the manual, and the size of the manual is because TLG decided to really simplify instructions and each page only adds one piece to the build.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

@Grogall: Is it sure? It's Neuschwanstein?

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@Coson:
I said I don't think it looks like a _UCS_ falcon, but I guess it could be a smaller falcon together with something else, like a Mos Eisley space port.

Gravatar
By in Luxembourg,

Why the suspense, the leaked information is available online since April, it looks like a photo done by phone of likely lego-internal presentation talking about the plans for this set. The set will be 75192 MF UCS, with both old and new antennas and refreshed set of minifigs priced at 700eur, and on market from Oct'17 to Dec'18. Very easy to find on google.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

@nikolani

Sentence from that presentation was "Slightly updated characters will excite collectors". If that is true slide, lego has a really lousy opinion of it's collectors.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ *New* characters excite me! But sometimes updated characters, particularly those with detailed arm and back prints would do as a substitute. I'm also unsure who would come in as a 'brand new figure' in this situation anyway - one hand injured Luke? Cloud City escape Leia? Perhaps.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

With that type of piece count, I rather they did the Medical Frigate. But a MF with an interior would be sweet.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Space Mountain Roller Coaster

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I think lego compares with creator to make us confused...
I'm still hoping that this is a UCS mf with technic parts!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@ kraken: How is that? It just states the truth. If anything, it convinces me of the document's authenticity, because it sounds just like a genuine USP coming from the marketing department of a huge international corporation bound to make profit.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Hmmm 502 pages .... Lego Porsche Manual was 580 pages and the box was impressive

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Trump's legal team?

UCS Batcave and Wayne Manor?

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Ok but what about buying it for $$$ profits?
Do you think that it (the biggest Lego set ever) will be good money investment?
Or only if it will be bigger and better Falcon?

Gravatar
By in United States,

What do you think the price will be?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^$600-700. I can't see them making the climb to $800.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Creator modular set of Yavin IV !! along with the forest plus landing pads to fit a few star ships like the U wing (Rogue 1) plus Ghost (Rebels) plus the classic X-wing and Y-wings.. now that will be majestic indeed!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, this set is coming in less than a month and they can't even give a picture yet.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lego released the Disney castle a year ago. EPCOT turns 35 this fall. Spaceship Earth should be the next set in the Disney Parks icon series...

Yea, it is the UCS Millennium Falcon...

Still...

Gravatar
By in Germany,

What if we are all wrong?
Somehow, I got that special feeling.
It is a bigger and better version of CLOUD CITY.... With all the figures and things....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Like everyone, I'm curious as to what it will be. But at the expected sale price, I cant imagine it being anything I'd spend that kind of money on.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

It will be UCS Falcon, UCS Cloud City or maybe a UCS Star Destroyer (Finalizer) from Force Awakens?

Hoping for the falcon but would be happy with any of the above 3. Also hoping it comes to retail here otherwise the price may be an issue. Need to get it at a discount to be affordable, I can't see it being anything under 1200 AUD.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

this is going to be one big set and I am praying it to be the falcon!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

UCS AT-AT. Trust me.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Its a humongous Lego house. The name of the danish architect is BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group).
http://big.dk/#projects (look under 2013)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

its tuesday again......

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Although I really wish for a falcon because I don't have the old one, an UCS AT-AT would be amazing. I do really want both though... Don't want cloud city, because it'd be impossible to make a very detailed version.

Gravatar
By in United States,

its a falcon i am sure of it!!!!!!!
